Children under 6 and the new rules of medicine.
I am very concerned because I have just found out that children under 6, are no longer able to take cold and cough medication. There is something about the medicines which make the child more sick than anything. I had to go see my doctor because my two daughters both had very bad coughs that would not go away and they couldn't sleep at night. When I got to the doctors office, he told me that children under 6 should be brought to the doctor so that they can have a medication prescribed to them that is appropriate for their age. I think it is good that they are taking these precautions because there are a lot of parents out there who aren't aware of this fact and continue to give their children the wrong medication. I currently have my children on a prescription and I am happy to say that since they have started taking it, they are finally getting better. Do you think it is important to talk to a doctor before giving your child medications? Why or why not? Do you kids get sick a lot of are they pretty healthy? What would you do if you couldn't get to see a doctor for a while and you wanted your kids to feel better? Last night while I was over at my mom's house visiting, I didn't have my kids medicine with me and they were coughing pretty bad. My mom gave me a home remedy that she used to use on me when I was too little to have medicine, warm milk with honey and cinnamon. Have you ever given this to your kids? Did it work for you? If you haven't used it before, would you try it out? Why or why not?
